What we are learning in Math!
Our math program will include an abundance of hands on learning. Students will manipulate cubes, pattern blocks, clocks, calculators, shapes, and other math tools. Students will have access at school
and home to IXL and Edmodo. I will be meeting with small math groups daily to enrich
and/or reteach important math concepts and skills. In Third Grade we have 5 major standards.
Operations and Algebraic Thinking:
*Multi-step word problems involving multiplication and division
*Solving words problems involving multiplication and division
*Memorizing multiplication facts 1-12
*Understand and describe number patterns
*Multiplication properties (zero, identity, commutative, associative, and distributive)
Number and Operations in Base Ten:
*Add and Subtract using ones, tens, and hundreds
*Addition and Subtraction word problems
*Subtraction with and without regrouping and subtracting across zeros
Number and Operations-Fractions:
*Putting fractions on a number
*Understanding fractions are apart of a whole
Geometry:
Reason with shapes and their attributes.
*Partition shapes into equal pieces and identity the fractional pieces
*Reason with shapes and their attributes
Measurement and Data:
*Measure and Estimate liquid volume and mass in liters, grams and kilograms.
*Read and interrupt graphs
*Find Area
*Find perimeter of polygons and irregular shapes
